The Greater Latrobe High School Clay Target Team is a school-sponsored club sport open to all students in grades 7 through 12.
Established in Spring of 2020, our team began with just a handful of local youth and has grown to more than 50 athletes competing in both trap and skeet disciplines. Our athletes are led by Head Coach Merle Musick, Skeet Coach Curt Tucak, and Assistant Coaches Tim Pershing, RC Vennum, Greg Sales, Brian Winters, David Musick, Adam Musick, and Joyce Musick.
We are hosted by the Sportsmen’s Association of Greensburg and compete as a member of the Pennsylvania High School Clay Target League. Each school year, our team participates in both the Fall Conference (August–October) and Spring Conference (March–June). Each summer, several of our athletes also have the opportunity to represent Greater Latrobe at the Pennsylvania State Tournament.
Our priorities are simple:
Safety. Fun. Marksmanship. — In that order!
We believe every area youth should have the opportunity to participate in shooting sports and that every athlete deserves a positive learning experience in a safe, fun, and supportive environment. Through clay target shooting, our athletes develop valuable skills while building friendships, learning sportsmanship, developing confidence, and competing on a fair and equal playing field.
Clay target shooting continues to be one of the fastest-growing sports among high school students. As our team continues to grow, we believe it is important to educate our community about the sport and the many positive opportunities that participation in shooting sports can provide.
We’re more than a team — we’re a community of athletes, families, coaches, and volunteers working together to help our youth learn, grow, compete, and have fun.
